The 2025 Artist Lottery Results Are In—and They’re Absolutely Fringe-tastic!
Oh, what a whimsical whirlwind of theatre, laughter, and lucky draws we had on April 9th in the Attic Venue at the charming Black Rabbit Kitchen! With a crowd buzzing like opening night and hearts pounding like drumrolls, the 2025 Nanaimo Fringe Festival Artist Lottery unfolded in true theatrical style. Spoiler alert: It was so much more dramatic than your average Wednesday.
And the Artists Are…
We’re rolling out the red (fringe-trimmed) carpet for our new and returning stars of the stage! From local legends to boundary-breaking newcomers, the draw revealed a dazzling lineup of bold and brilliant creators who’ll light up downtown Nanaimo from August 7–17, 2025. Get ready to Fringe like you’ve never Fringed before!
Scholarship Spotlight: Big Applause, Please
In keeping with the spirit of Fringe—where everyone has a place and every story deserves a spotlight—we’re proudly announcing this year’s scholarship recipients:
The 2025 Indigenous Artist/Group Scholarship goes to
Sweet Tooth Burlesque for Clue: The Burlesque Show, featuring Valorie Vamp as Miss White, Eyevanna Candygasm as Miss Scarlett, Sweet Cheeks Capone as Miss Peacock, Veronica Stone as Prof. Plum, UnnaLolli as Miss Green and Larrissa Champagne as Col. Mustard
The 2025 Trans Artist/Group Scholarship was awarded to the inspiring Evan Shumka & Ouroboros Theatre from Duncan, BC, for their show Theoxenia. A heartfelt thanks to the generous anonymous donor making this Fringe dream possible.
